Sometimes it helps to talk things through, to get in touch with what's really going on, inside and out. Meeting you where you are on your life path, we will work on your goals and dreams for a happier life, building on strengths that you already have. This may include learning new skills, clarifying your choices, or making a journey inward to better understand your needs and hopes. We may discuss the major stresses in your life, your belief system, health history, your childhood, your relationships, and other issues that have an influence on your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well-being.
I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New Mexico, with over 8 years of experience as a counselor, providing support to a culturally diverse population. Prior to that, I worked as a mind-body healing practitioner for 5 years. I enjoy working with adolescents and elders, and all ages in between. I have a special interest in working with trauma and anxiety, grief and loss, mood disorders, relationship problems, and chronic pain. I use a variety of approaches, focusing on what works best for you, including Mindfulness, EMDR, and Internal Family Systems.
The healing journey is the journey to wholeness. Each place in our lives where we feel physical pain, emotional distress, mental confusion or spiritual lack is a place where we are not whole. These places of unease serve as signals to us that there is a part of ourselves that we are not honoring and embracing.
Throughout our lives, we have sacrificed parts of ourselves, hoping to get, in exchange, the love and approval we needed to survive. Each of us has adapted to our life circumstances in the best way that we could. While these sacrifices may have temporarily made it possible for us to receive some of the attention we needed, how could we truly feel loved when a part of ourselves had to be suppressed in order to receive it?
These sacrifices have depleted our vitality and our ability to give and receive love. We have given up dreams, we have given up power and joy, we have given up our genuine emotions. Even so-called negative emotions, such as rage and grief carry a piece of our vitality. To reclaim our wholeness is to reclaim our power, our joy, our dreams.
We all come into this life with a longing. We all come with a purpose. What is your longing? What do you most want in your life? Can you find the courage to let your light shine and find out if you can be loved for exactly who you are, not just a pale shadow of yourself?
The path to healing is the path to embracing yourself as you are. As you do so, an amazing transformation takes place. The compulsions, the triggers, begin to drop away effortlessly. More love and joy come into your life. As you accept yourself, you are able to accept others. Life becomes more peaceful. Your body relaxes. There’s nothing you have to do to be loved. You are love.
